Chairman of the Board – Rector of Karaganda Medical University, B.N. Kosherova, and Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Evidence-Based Medicine of KMU, Sh.S. Kaliyeva, visited Kazan State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

During the visit, the Karaganda delegation met with Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University, A.Z. Farrakhov, and Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Public Relations of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, E.F. Salakhov.

In the current academic year (2025–2026), the universities are implementing a joint double-degree educational program in the specialties “General Medicine” and “Medicine.” This unique program complies with the educational standards of both Kazakhstan and Russia.

“Our universities have every opportunity to develop cooperation not only in training professionals, but also in joint research, publications, and the implementation of advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies. We are proud of the high level of domestic medicine, and I am confident that our partnership will become a solid foundation for the sustainable development of both sides,” noted B.N. Kosherova.

Six cooperation agreements have been signed between the universities.

“I am very grateful that the KMU delegation headed by Chairman of the Board – Rector B.N. Kosherova visited our university. We are at the beginning of a unique and remarkable project. This initiative will allow our universities to become stronger and more competitive. It is a challenge for both teams, which must unite and successfully implement the project. The result will be a significant advantage for future doctors — a diploma recognized in both Kazakhstan and Russia,” emphasized A.Z. Farrakhov.

Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Public Relations of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, E.R. Salakhov, added:

“The joint collaboration between the two universities contributes to strengthening our capacity to protect the health of the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan.”

The parties discussed the implementation of the double-degree program. Following the meeting, further areas for cooperation between the universities were outlined.

During the visit, KMU representatives familiarized themselves with the work of clinical departments, educational, simulation, and cadaver centers, and medical organizations in the region. The delegation also took part in the ceremonial meeting of the Academic Board of Kazan State Medical University dedicated to the university’s 212th anniversary.

Chairman of the Board – Rector of KMU also participated in the XII International Educational Conference “Medical Education: The Choice of Generations of the 21st Century,” where she delivered a presentation titled “Transformation of the Cardiologist Training System in Kazakhstan (as in the case of Karaganda Medical University).”
