Karaganda Medical University Confirmed Its Status as Kazakhstan’s Leading Medical University in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026

The Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings is one of the world's most reputable ranking systems evaluating universities' contributions to achieving the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2026, the rankings included 2,526 universities fr om 130 countries, making it the largest international ranking in the field of sustainable development.

 According to the ranking results, Karaganda Medical University maintained its position in the 801–1000 group of the world's best universities, holding this result for the third consecutive year. Among Kazakhstani universities, only two universities entered the 401–600 group, two more were represented in the 601–800 group, and Karaganda Medical University joined the 801–1000 group alongside four other Kazakhstani universities. Moreover, Karaganda Medical University ranked first in the overall ranking results among all medical universities in Kazakhstan.

 The university demonstrated its highest performance in SDG 3 "Good Health and Well-being," upon entering the group 301–400 of the world's best universities. This achievement confirms the high quality of training of medical staff, the development of scientific research, and the university's contribution to strengthening public health.

 Significant results were also achieved in SDG 5 "Gender Equality" and SDG 10 "Reduce Inequalities," wh ere the university placed in the 401–600 group, while in SDG 4 "Quality Education," it entered the 601–800 group of the world's best universities. These indicators reflect the university's systematic work toward developing quality education, creating an inclusive learning environment, and ensuring equal opportunities.

 The obtained results confirm the efficiency of Karaganda Medical University’s sustainable development strategy and consolidate its position as Kazakhstan's leading medical university, successfully representing the country on the international educational scene.
