On November 21, 2025, Philology Department of Karaganda National Research University named after Academician Y.A. Buketov held the regional competition "Abay Readings", to mark the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbaiuly. Students of universities and colleges participated in the competition.
Under the supervision of Associate Professor from the Language Development Center of Karaganda Medical University, Candidate of Philological Sciences,  A.B. Ashirbekova, Assistant Professor, Master of Arts in Education G.E. Ospanova, first year students of the "Biomedicine" (group 1-011) program Diana Sergeevna Poddubova and Nurana Aslanovna Mirzayeva took part in the competition and became prize winners.
They read poems of Abay and answered quiz questions on the poet's life and work, taking 2nd and 3rd places.
