“Respiratory Medicine in Kazakhstan: Breath to the Future”

From November 13 to 15, 2025, the 4th National Congress of Respiratory Medicine with International Participation, “Respiratory Medicine in Kazakhstan: Breath to the Future” was held in Astana. The event brought together leading specialists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates. The Congress became an important platform for discussing current latest achievements, exchanging research data, and enhancing clinical approaches in respiratory medicine.During the event, representatives from Karaganda Medical University delivered reports:
L.K. Ibrayeva, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine, delivered a report on «Диагностика и лечение ИЗЛ: Карагандинская область» (“Diagnosis and Treatment of ILD (Interstitial lung disease): Karaganda Region.”)
I.V. Bacheva, Associate Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine, delivered a presentation on «Фенотипические особенности развития пульмо-кардио-ренального континуума у пациентов с ХОБЛ» (“Phenotypic Features of the Development of the Pulmonary–Cardiorenal Continuum in Patients with COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).”)
In addition, L.K. Ibrayeva performed as a moderator for scientific sessions, including the symposium on «Разные грани интерстициальных заболеваний лёгких» (“Various Facets of Interstitial Lung Diseases”), the poster reports competition, and the Young Scientists Competition.

PhD candidates with specialization in Medicine demonstrated good results in the Young Scientists Competition. Following the results of the competition:
— M.K. Aubakirova (3rd year of study) took 1st place
— A.S. Zhanabayeva (1st year of study) and D.A. Zhumagaliyeva (2nd year of study)
took 2nd place
— Encouragement Award to M.B. Sadibekova (2nd year of study)
Residents with specialization in Pulmonology (Adult, Pediatric) made a significant contribution to organizational and scientific parts of the event.
G.N. Armakayeva participated in the preparation and video interviews with program directors, clinical mentors, graduates of the residency, and current residents.
A.R. Sharifullina took part as an expert for the PulmoNews information project.
Residents-pulmonologists A.B. Seksenbayeva, D.S. Bekenova, and I.V. Sorokin presented a team work, which was awarded third place in the poster reports competition.
The participation of employees, PhD candidates, and residents of Karaganda Medical University confirmed high standard of professional training and willingness for valuable contribution in developing respiratory medicine at national and international levels.
