Development of International Cooperation through Academic Mobility
Development of International Cooperation through Academic Mobility
20 May 2026

As part of the implementation of the strategy for the internationalization of education and the development of international academic cooperation, we, the students of the university, participated in an academic mobility program in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, at one of the leading medical universities — the North-Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov. During the program, we successfully completed the educational course “Hepatology (Adult)”.

The participants of the program were second-year residents of the Gastroenterology (Adult and Pediatric) specialty — Tasbulatova A. B. and Bazarbay A. S. For us, this program provided a unique opportunity to expand and deepen our theoretical knowledge as well as to enhance our practical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases. We familiarized ourselves with international clinical guidelines and modern approaches to patient management, and participation in clinical case discussions and scientific-educational events with leading specialists of the host university was of particular importance.

The implementation of the academic mobility program demonstrates the high level of training of our university’s students and the orientation of the educational process toward international standards. We are confident that such initiatives contribute to the development of competitive specialists, strengthen professional connections with foreign partners, and enhance the university’s academic prestige on the international stage.

It is worth noting that participation in the program became an important stage of our professional development. The opportunity to study at a leading medical center, take part in the analysis of complex clinical cases, and communicate with experts in hepatology allowed us to gain a fresh perspective on approaches to patient diagnosis and treatment. The knowledge and skills we have acquired will be actively applied in our future clinical practice, undoubtedly improving the quality of medical care we provide.

We express our sincere gratitude to the Chairperson of the Board – Rector of “KMU” NCJSC Kosherova Bakhyt Nurgalievna, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Professor Laryushina Elena Mikhailovna, the International Office of “KMU” NCJSC the School of Residency and Professional Development, as well as the faculty and the International Office of NWGMU named after I. I. Mechnikov for the high level of organization, support, and the opportunity for professional and academic growth.
